User Reviews about Bass Fitness - An Exercising Handbook (Guitar School)

Very didactic and, better than that, comprehensive exercises to improve the skill. And cheap. A CD Audio, with lessons, is missed, but OK. -- A must-have for a beginner bassist.
This is not a technique book or a song book. It provides only what that title says it does, which are bass exercies. It provides a ton of ways to practice strength, finger independance (what i really need) and finger dexterity. It's a great book to use to start your practices with. A little bit of this each day will certainly show rewards. I highly recommend. -- great
Very good book. Good for improving technique and speed, can be applied to scales and riffs and what not. -- Bass Fitness
As a beginning bass player, having this as a practice guide has been incredibly valuable. Easily worth the money. Not the most exciting thing in the world but critical to good fundamentals (as far as I can tell.) -- Great Practice Resource
To get the most out of this you really need to play along with a metronome (emphasized on page 5, but possibly ignored by some), this way you can gauge your progress. If you don't I can assure you it will be used for about a month and then find its way to the next yard sale. Reason for four stars: The only thing I found missing was a set of thumb shift exercises, say one in which you would fourth fret the fourth string (with your pinky) to the first fret of the third string followed by a thumb shift so that the first finger now slides to the fourth fret third finger and then follow the progression of 567, and repeating for the next two strings. I realize that it does not reverse as do most of the other exercises, but I think it instills yet another important aspect in bass fingering coordination. I went ahead and wrote in some myself in the blank spaces in back. What would even be better is if he had a website rather than a book (subscription based) where other bassists could share their fingering exercises with a larger community. -- Great dexterity, timing and strengthening exercises
